Mission.

Our mission is to empower, uplift, and create opportunities for underserved individuals by leveraging the collective talents, resources, and determination of HBCU students

Background.

Established in November of 2023 by visionaries Zaire Joyner and Phalen Hamilton, HeritageU is a non-profit organization committed to empowering the youth by sharing the heritage and culture of HBCUs with the community. Showcasing what African American students can do for their communities in need.

Zaire, a sophomore at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and Phalen, a sophomore at Xavier University of Louisiana, joined forces to create HeritageU with a shared commitment of fostering positive change and inspiring the next generation. Their journey began with the realization that the legacy of HBCUs, with its deep-rooted traditions and resilience, could be a powerful catalyst for transformation in the lives of young individuals.

Zaire and Phalen envision a world where the youth are not only aware of their cultural heritage but are also equipped with the tools and knowledge to make a meaningful impact for communities in need. By highlighting the accomplishments of African American students from HBCUs, HeritageU showcases the limitless potential within every individual and emphasizes the pivotal role they can play in addressing the challenges our society faces.

HeritageU believes that education is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about embracing one's roots and culture. Through various initiatives, programs, and partnerships, HeritageU aims to create a platform that empowers the youth to be leaders, change-makers, and ambassadors for their community.
